There are more men named John in positions of leadership across America than there are women in leadership roles.*

Even fewer are women of color. We’re here to change that.

MENTORSHIP FOR WOMEN OF COLOR IN MEDIA & TECH

You earned your seat at the table—now, it’s their turn.

We see you. We know the hurdles you overcame to make it to the top, to get that seat where your voice is heard. Now you have a chance to put your knowledge and resources to work as part of systemic change.

Our mission is to match 100,000 ambitious WOC in media and tech with the female leaders of their industries. Let’s create a generation of professional women of color by pulling up a chair for them to join us, so in the years to come our mentees will rise to the top of the board rooms.

It’s In the Numbers

8.2%

of the Fortune 500 companies in 2021 are led by female CEOs—only 4 of those 41 women are WOC, not one of them is Latina.2

27%

of C-suite positions in media and entertainment are held by women, even though women account for up to 49% of the industry’s workforce.3

34.4%

of the workforce at America’s biggest tech companies is female — but only 1 in 4 women actually hold tech jobs.4

BECOME A MENTOR

Raising women up

According to the World Economic Forum, none of us will see gender parity in our lifetime and neither will any of our children and likely our grandchildren. At the current rate of change, they estimate we won’t reach gender equality in the United States for 200+ years, until 2227.

We believe it’s our responsibility as successful women to pay it forward—to share our positions of power, networks and knowledge with ambitious young women of color. It’s difficult to climb the corporate ladder if the rungs are broken, but through mentorship we believe professional equality and representation are not only possible, they’re inevitable.

HOW IT WORKS

One mentee, six months, switch

We get it: You’re busy. It’s hard to squeeze in another zoom on your calendar. We make it simple and doable to become a mentor: Just give 1 hour a month for 12 months.

1. Apply

Apply to be mentor, and we’ll match you with an ambitious WOC starting her career in media and tech —who doesn’t have access to female leaders like you.

2. Mentor

Meet with your mentee once a month for six months. No prep, no homework, no other commitments, just an hour of your time to provide insight gained from your experience.

3. Switch

After six months, we’ll switch it up with a new mentee. After your first year, you choose if you’d like to donate 12 more hours to two new mentees.

DIVERSITY IN BUSINESS

Women are nearly half the labor force, but only a third of managers—and caucasian women hold the majority of those positions.

6.2%

Latinas

3.8%

Black Women

2.4%

Asian Women

PAY IT FORWARD

We couldn’t do this without you

Our mentorship program is free for both mentors and mentees. Without the support of generous donors and corporate sponsors like you, we couldn’t connect our mentees with the guidance they need to succeed.

 WHY RAISE WOMEN

From humble beginnings

As the founders of Raise, we know what it’s like to start a career without any ins or special treatment. We worked hard to get to where we are today, and we want to make it easier for the next generation of professional women to do the same.
